I tore my ACL a few years back and spent a lot of time figuring out how to rehab it at home without spending a fortune. Backwards walking kept coming up as one of the most effective things I could do. But I was shocked to discover that the only treadmill purpose-built for that kind of training costs around $720!
I found this post ↗ on reddit in which BlackTankGuy utilized a Sunny Health manual treadmill with a wedge-based resistance system using a doorstop and felt pad. I loved the DYI solution and immediately made one for myself. It did the job for a while, but I wanted to create a more elgant and permanent soluton. So I designed an add-on.
What started as a personal project turned into something other people asked about. So I cleaned it up, sourced some hardware, and started selling it on Etsy. I'm not a big operation. Every unit is printed, packed, and shipped by me.
Where you can find me:
The whole operation runs out of my home workshop. A handful of printers, a workbench, and a growing pile of hardware.
Every unit is printed in PLA filament, inspected, and packed by hand before it ships.
They don't do much, but they're always in the shop. Moral support is still support.
